NOVA was established in the mid Seventies by a group of women artists associated with Ku-ring-gai Art Centre and over the years have held a number of selective exhibitions. The group strives for a very creative and individual approach to their work and members have been hung in exhibitions such as the Blake Prize, Portia Geach, Wynne, Mosman, Hunters Hill and Adelaide Perry. They have won countless prizes in local and countrywide competitions. In 1988 they presented as a Bicentennial gift to the Ku-ring-gai CAE, a large panel of paintings depicting the Ku-ring-gai environment. Members of the group continue their contact with Ku-ring-gai Art Centre, teaching classes and workshops and participating in exhibitions at the Centre. They also give workshops and demonstrations to Summer Schools and community groups throughout New South Wales. Some members have lead groups on painting expeditions to the Kimberley region of WA. Members have also had solo and group exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. All members have had long associations with Art Societies such as Ku-ring-gai and Royal Art Society of NSW and held Committee positions in these community based organisations.
